Alchemical Quote
It is necessary to deprive matter of its qualities in order to draw out its soul.... Copper is like a man; it has a soul and a body ... the soul is the most subtile part ... that is to say, the tinctorial spirit. The body is the ponderable, material, terrestrial thing, endowed with a shadow.... After a series of suitable treatments copper becomes without shadow and better than gold.... The elements grow and are transmuted, because it is their qualities, not their substances which are contrary.
Stephanus of Alexandria, about 620 A.D. - Quote found by Leif Olav Jøsang

Ars Magica

Ars Magica is now in its fifth edition, released by the fourth publisher. Thoughout its history six core rule book and more then 60 supplements were published and some of them translated in up to four languages. And that does not even include the numerous fanzine, downloads, websites, forums and mailing lists out there.

Obviously you don't need to know, let alone own all that material to be able to play Ars Magica. We at Project: Ars-Magica.Net intend to give you a general idea of what was published and what you might like to have for playing Ars Magica. Wir will try to explain basic rules and answer typical questions for both beginners and experts.

Finally please remember the most important rule: It is your game and you are supposed to have fun. Whatever works for your game can't be wrong; whatever you don't like, change it or simply ignore it. Our house rules section gives you an idea, what others players wanted to change for their games.

Have fun and nice dice!
